Lina : Attends ! Je ne trouve pas mes clés. Où sont mes clés ?
Wait! I can't find my keys. Where are my keys?
Nil : Calme-toi. Elles sont peut-être sur la table ?
Calm down. Maybe they're on the table?
Lina : Non, j'ai regardé. Elles ne sont pas sur la table.
No, I looked. They're not on the table.
Nil : Dans ton sac ? Dans la poche de ta veste ?
In your bag? In your jacket pocket?
Lina : Non, mon sac est vide. Et la poche aussi !
No, my bag is empty. And the pocket too!
Nil : Regarde sous le canapé. Ou derrière le livre sur la table ?
Look under the couch. Or behind the book on the table?
Lina : Elles ne sont pas sous le canapé. Et pas derrière le livre non plus.
They're not under the couch. Not behind the book either.
Nil : Et dans le tiroir de la cuisine, à côté du téléphone ?
And in the kitchen drawer, next to the phone?
Lina : Ah ! Les voilà ! Elles sont entre le téléphone et les lunettes, dans le tiroir.
Ah! Here they are! They're between the phone and the glasses, in the drawer.
Nil : Tu dois les mettre toujours au même endroit !
You need to always put them in the same place!
Lina : Je sais, je sais. Je les cherche depuis ce matin !
I know, I know. I've been looking for them since this morning!
Nil : Et ton sac, tu l'as regardé ?
And your bag, did you check it?
Lina : Oui, je l'ai regardé deux fois ! Appelle Marc et dis-lui qu'on arrive !
Yes, I checked it twice! Call Marc and tell him we're coming!
Nil : OK, je lui envoie un message tout de suite.
OK, I'll send him a message right away.
Lina : Parfait ! Maintenant on peut partir.
Perfect! Now we can leave.

Point grammaire

Lina a utilisé plusieurs prépositions et quelques pronoms dans ce dialogue. Pour que toutes les pièces du puzzle s'assemblent, va aussi étudier :

What you'll learn: Prepositions of place (sur, sous, dans…) let you say where things are. Direct object pronouns (le, la, les) replace the thing — so you don't say 'les clés' twice. Indirect object pronouns (lui, leur) replace a person after 'à' — the one you give, say, or write something to.
